Don’t waste your money on SEO

While there may be some reputable SEO companies out there who offer a good service at a fair price, in my opinion, most of them are nothing more than a way for you to waste money. You would be amazed at the number of SEO companies still using outdated tactics without anyone exposing that they are doing nothing effective to improve rankings.

Many high-priced SEO companies are using strategies so outdated that it is laughable.

Outdated strategy #1: Promoting keyword meta tag selection as a viable search engine tool. Most every good designer or developer knows that Google does not use keywords in their algorithms for search engine placement and hasn’t for several years. The well-known search at Google.com that hundreds of millions of people use each day completely disregards keyword meta tags. They simply don’t have any effect in search ranking at present.

About a decade ago, search engines judged pages only on the content of web pages. In those days, keyword meta tags quickly became an area where someone could stuff often-irrelevant keywords without typical visitors ever seeing those keywords. Because the keywords meta tag was so often abused, many years ago Google began disregarding its use.

Outdated strategy #2: Submitting your site to multiple search engine. Nowadays, there is no longer any need to “submit” a site to a search engine. A quick look at any website status reporting tool will show you that search bots from various search engines including Google are constantly crawling the web looking for new sites and new content, oftentimes visiting your site on a daily basis.

Outdated strategy #3: Adding your website to an inbound linking service. This is bad news and very detrimental to website placement these days! Google frowns on this sort of thing and will actually penalize a website if they are caught using such a service. Besides, inbound linking services are old school. No one uses them and no designer worth their salt would recommend that tactic.

SEO that works!

What you do need is an XML sitemap on your website so that the search engines can easily identify all the pages on the site. This is especially important if a site uses a dynamic access to content such as Flash or JavaScript menus that do not include HTML links.

Also, the key thing Google looks for now is fresh content. That is why having a blog and keeping it updated with new content is probably the single best thing you can do to optimize your search engine visibility. Simply put — Google rewards popular sites with good placement.

These days, there is little (if any) need to pay a third party SEO company high prices to keep your website optimized. When I design a website for you, I also provide you with content management tools so that you can edit the meta-tags in the code of each page without the need of any HTML programming experience. These CMSA CMS or Content Management System allows you to control and manage the content within your web site - without technical training. tools also allow you to easily update the content of your website, keeping all information fresh and up-to-date, and at the same time helping your website rank higher in the major search engines. The use of this feature alone can help your business maintain a successful presence online.
